The all new Blue Heron
$12,000

Goose bump sonics,
trend setting style,
elegant, no nonsense engineering
and first rate parts and build quality
for just $1195???

Yes.

Most speaker companies save the
good stuff for the top of their line.

But at Meadowlark Audio
we just LOVE the
challenge of making
affordable speakers that
are absolutely wonderful!

Swift is a true music lover’s
speaker that will surprise
and delight you.

SWIFT : THE OUTSIDE

The Swift’s daringly stylish cabinet derives its good looks, in part from a top-to-bottom baffle sculpted from solid Ash, a native hardwood with bold strength of character and intense natural beauty.
Have you noticed the kind of construction that prevails on most speakers near this price? Injection molded plastic and stamped metal parts that would be right at home on a car dashboard or a hair dryer!

To create the Swift baffle and top we mill kiln dried Ash lumber in our new factory in Northern New York, we sculpt the wood in to sexy and sweeping curves, then finish each speaker by hand with a crystal clear lacquer to create one-of-a-kind combinations of nature and art. Each pair glows with its own unique character that will delight the eye and invite the touch, truly a rare luxury in today’s mass produced world!

And, your intuition is right; wood is good! It is both strong and well damped by nature and actually performs better, sonically, than the highly touted, techy composites you’ll see on some very expensive speakers. Think about it. How do you suppose a violin or piano sound made from plastic and metal? Forget it! Wood is good! Stradivari and Steinway were right!

SWIFT : THE INSIDE
Swift embodies all of the principles of design that has made Meadowlark the first choice among music lovers.
By virtue of acoustically aligned drivers and a simple first order crossover the Swift is a time coherent speaker, it faithfully reproduces the signal it is given without the insidious timing errors common among other speaker designs.
Our goal is that you will enjoy the music as it was originally played, without the effects of intervening circuitry that alters the timing and adds distortion.

The Swift’s crossover is isolated in its own compartment and consists of just three parts of the highest quality. One heatsinked Caddock resistor, one Auricap capacitor and one heavy gauge Sidewinder air core inductor. That’s it, no unnecessary complexity, no secret circuits, nothing to detract from your music.
All connections are point to point silver soldered by hand, internal wire is DH Labs Silver Sonic. A single pair of nicely machined gold plated posts assure a secure connection.
Drivers:
Both long throw woofer and the fabric domed tweeter are made by Vifa for remarkable performance and consistency. Every completed speaker is subjected to a thorough, full power test.

NEXT GENERATION TRANSMISSION LINE
Well, this all sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? But we’ve saved the best for last!
At the recent Stereophile Show in Manhattan we amazed throngs of experienced audiophiles with the Swift’s spectacular bass performance.
Bass? From a 5.5” two way? You laugh! Well, they were not laughing at the NY Show.
Put very simply, we have made a major leap forward in transmission line design, a simple and elegant design that is the next logical step in bass systems.

We call it BASSIC for Impedance Coupled Bass. Making its debut in the Swift, BASSIC will astonish you with its depth, dynamics and firm, firm grip.
Read more about this wonderful advance on our site in the coming weeks - once we’ve figured out how to relate the idea to you in normal English!

SWIFT : THE SOUND
This is a music lover’s speaker - naturally engaging, a dynamic lover!
Forget it’s there!
Dance in your chair!

Dear Music Lover-

In 1994 we did the impossible.
.
We entered the world of high end speaker making with a single model.
No product line. No marketing.
No distribution. No internet.
No press fanfare.
Just a speaker.
And we succeeded! Wildly!

That speaker was of course the Kestrel, the legendary little two way that has taken its place in audio history, drawn dozens of imitators and made thousands of friends throughout the world.

Though the original Kestrel remains a strong favorite among discriminating audiophiles, we have decided that there is no time like the present to jump into the future!

But........ As the designer, I have long known that any successor to the Kestrel would have to be some damn speaker.....

So I must admit that I when I finally approached the project is was with a certain amount of apprehension.

The goal was to design a speaker that would be as far ‘ahead of its time’ now, in 2003, as the original Kestrel was, then, in 1994.
Like the original Kestrel, the new speaker would have to impart the heart and soul of music without imposing itself too much on the owner’s space, budget or choice of equipment.
The new speaker would need to be handsome in a way that portends the future.
And, most of all, the new speaker would need to sonically outperform the original on every single count.

No small challenge.........it did take a little more work than I’ll ever admit.....

So............here it is...........Kestrel2.

Slim and sexy, its shape speaks ‘elan’, refinement, a certain smug sureness of purpose.......that is.......well.....high end, high end.
This speaker even feels great.

And the sound?
More dynamic, more articulate and extended, more detailed, more natural and more expressive and engaging.
Better soundstaging.
No kidding; better soundstaging.

Kestrel2 will begin to ship during the second half of January.
We are taking orders now. Call your dealer to make sure he has a pair on hand for your audition. Bring your music, you’re in for a treat!

Sincerely,
Pat McGinty

To say that the Osprey, or ‘sea eagle’ is a formidable predator is indeed an understatement. With a combination of overwhelming force and apparent effortlessness that we humans would call ‘grace’, the Osprey’s swooping flight teaches one resounding lesson: do not be a fish.
Our new three way was created to embody the vigorous skill and elegant form of its namesake. With Osprey, Meadowlark Audio boldly underscores its place in the audio world as the ‘American Speaker Artisans’.
While the rest of the speaker world is moving toward offshore production, injection molded plastic, stamped perf metal and a ‘me too’ look, we are avidly handcrafting this wonderful speaker using native hardwoods, here in our new plant in nether regions of Northern New York.

Seen side by side are Ospreys dressed in Pennsylvania Cherry with a Rock Maple Stringer and in Light Ash with a Heritage Walnut Stringer. The baffle and top sections are deeply sculpted from wood solids, then carefully finished by hand to achieve a radiant depth of character and deep glow that simply cannot be mimicked by even the best of today’s artificial materials. Even our hand applied lacquer has been custom formulated for a crystal clear look and an inviting warmth to the touch.
Just as with a fine musical instrument, there is romance and beauty in wood, and a desirable uniqueness in each and every speaker made in this way. Sonically, nothing has yet been devised that can compare; that is why you have yet to see an acrylic violin or a composite piano!

Inside the sleek and stunning exterior lurks a no compromise music reproduction system starting with the famous Scan Speak carbon graphite 7” woofer married to a BASSIC bass alignment. BASSIC, which stands for Impedance Coupled Bass, is the next generation in transmission line loading. Simply put, the system forces the driver to effectively couple to the air in the room - even below system resonance - for amazing dynamics and extension.

Osprey boasts robust and quick bass output to 30Hz, a feat that has so far been considered unattainable in a seven inch system.
Osprey’s five inch midrange faces a full wavelength transmission line that is well damped with long hair sheep’s wool - a material long regarded as the ‘gold standard’ in line damping. The result is a lush and natural midrange with stunningly ‘human’ sounding vocal reproduction. Treble duty is dispatched with elan by the Scan Speak 9500 series fabric dome tweeter that has become renowned for its silky extension. Detail and dynamics are first rate, all the while being sublimely natural. Sonically, Osprey presents a lively, dynamic and powerful presentation that plumbs the depths of the bass with resolve and clout, and excels overall at coherence and timbral reality. As always, midrange believability is at the top of our list.

Of course, the system is exactingly time coherent, a minimum requirement for realistic music reproduction. Toward this end, the heart of this raptor is a simple first order crossover that resides in its own isolation chamber and is executed with the very finest parts. All connections are point to point silver soldered by hand and internal wire is Tara RSC.

Owing to the well damped bass system and ultra simple crossover Osprey is an easily driven eight ohm load that will bring out the best qualities in your amp.
Please notice some of the small details of Osprey’s appearance including the Meadowlark logo that is carved into the baffle and the ultra glossy cast acrylic back plate that is hand silk screened with the stylishly proud Hunting Osprey logo.
If you’ve been shopping you’ll know that the pond full of three thousand dollar speakers has some pretty big fish.
But there’s only one Osprey.
